About Meghan
Hello! I’m Meghan, an emerging fiction author for young and new adults!
I’m a writer and horse lover from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Originally from North Carolina, I have been working with horses since I was thirteen years old. I expanded that experience at Midway University in Kentucky before eventually settling in Wisconsin to offer equine therapy to youth. When I’m not spending time with horses, I love pencil drawing and any outdoor activity, especially when I get to share it with my dog.
I have been creating stories since before I knew how to write. In the early days, I would dictate these stories to my mom who wrote some of them down. The habit slowly developed into learning how to write solid fiction. Being homeschooled, I was able to work in courses about writing novels which I practiced all throughout the college years. I spent a couple years solely with horses before returning to the drafting desk. That’s when I started writing short stories and full-length novels with more focus.
My Stories
My goal is to write stories that are fresh, fun, and genuine with a touch of whimsy to spice things up.
When I write, I emphasize the quality of storytelling over everything else. I want the audience to walk away feeling like they’ve gained something. A lot of the inspiration for my writing style comes from Pixar and Studio Ghibli, who use magic to create unique and meaningful characters and plotlines. I enjoy writing stories that are bold and whimsical, including normal people with a touch of magic. Novels have an edge over screenwriting in such a way that adding fantastical elements doesn’t cost a dime, so why not use it?
